The Sunday Detox: Getting Rid of a Hangover
Sunday is usually my day to rid my body of the alcoholic toxins I've exposed it to throughout the weekend. I typically spend 30-40 minutes sweating on the treadmill along with drinking many, many glasses of water and orange juice.
Running really makes me feel better after a night of partying. Sweating out all that crud really refreshes me. A lot of people tend to sleep off their hangover, but I like to speed up the process by getting my butt on the treadmill.
How do you rid yourself of a hangover? Do you have a routine? I've never tried a hangover pill but would definitely be willing to give it a whirl.

If I drank to that extent, Id be able to tell you and i would hope i had a routine, but I dont. BUT, my sister has one and its to eat fatty food and drink V8. She takes that hangover pill and says it works.
My question is why drink that much?
I tend to want to sleep it off because I feel so much like shit, but honestly, I feel better once I get up an start moving around. Drinking water helps too I guess. Except my birthday hangover...that was a doozy! It lasted two days, no bueno.
@Mamabee00@xanga - Haha, yeah, good question. My problem is that I get caught up in the party atmosphere, and I end up drinking 10 to 12 beers without even realizing it.
its best to do all in the the same order...
Well, a hangover is just your body going on withdrawl mode, so a shot of something can make you feel better. I would try it if there's any alcohol left over if I ever had a hangover. Never had one though, always puked it out as I have a bit of a weak stomach.
Oh, btw, I tried your advice of not drinking soda for two weeks, and yeah....it doesn't taste as good.
@bluedreamer85@xanga - I hear that coffee doesn't work to cure a hangover, just a myth.
@awokenfatality@xanga - nope. works fine with me, the mild roast at Starbucks coffee (which has a higher caffeine content) helps with the headaches that arise with a hangover.
I definitely always get a massive mug of coffee and get in the hot tub for awhile and use that entirely-way-too-expensive soap stuff that makes my skin feel great. :)
@bluedreamer85@xanga - Yeah, caffine does help with headaches, I guess what they meant that black coffee alone doesn't help with hangovers.
@awokenfatality@xanga - you are actually right. black coffee would only upset the stomach more (i would give myself a slight bit of creamer or soy), it would cure the headache but upset the stomach, that's why i eat something fatty (oily) or bread like. plus the advil helps, and a cup of OJ at the finish line always helps too.
@bluedreamer85@xanga - lol. I'll keep that mind.
I swear by 2 ibuprofen and 1 extra strength tylenol with a big glass of water right before bed. I've only been hungover once in my life, and it was the one time I forgot to take my little concoction. I'm convinced that it also kept a friend from alcohol poisoning, but it's possible I'm overlooking some divine intervention.
I've actually never been hungover, even when I have gotten extremely drunk the night before on top of neglecting to stay hydrated.
Just lucky, I guess.
@OHskeeeeeeet@xanga - Dang, you are lucky. That must be a wonderful feeling.
I don't drink any more really, but in college I remember sleeping in late and then going somewhere for a big greasy breakfast. In effect weighing me down and making me groggy and bloated for the rest of the afternoon. Smart thinking. Other things that help: chugging water, popping advil, and caffeine (usually soda, when I was in college. Don't touch the stuff now though).
@sam - It kind of feels like a superpower. Granted, I'd rather have mind reading or something like that, but I guess it could be worse.
I don't get hangover. I just make sure I drink plenty of water before sleeping, and I don't cross my limits. =P
@OHskeeeeeeet@xanga - You might want to knock on wood or something. I used to never get hangovers, and then one night it was all over. I swear every time I drank I was throwing up the next day. But now I am usually okay.
