Chicken Leg Syndrome: Can it Be Stopped?
Ever notice how guys tend to focus solely on building muscle in their chest and shoulders? I guess it's so that when a potential mate comes along, they can puff out their chests like an exotic bird. Unfortunately, men lack the colorful plumage, so most of the time they come off as just looking like unproportioned douches.
Excuses I've heard regarding this issue tend to be along the lines of, "People notice your upper body more than your lower body."
I suppose this is true, in the sense that people tend to be drawn more towards your upper body since that's where your face is. But it doesn't take long for them to take note of the whole package, and when you've got a couple of toothpicks supporting you, they notice. And they probably laugh.
I used to avoid lower body workouts altogether, but then I starting seeing how I basically had no calves and no butt. It just looked funny, since I had a well-defined upper body. Now I dedicate entire workouts to my lower body, and I could tell a difference almost immediately. Muscles I never knew existed are showing themselves.
Is there a certain body part you tend to focus on more at the gym?

If I were to frequent the gym like I should, I would focus on my arms and legs. And thirdly, my stomach.
I usually make it a point to focus on everything. I change my workout every time I go... sometimes it'll be my arms next it'll be my legs and then my abs... so I think I'm doing a decent job of getting it all in.
Well, I'm a chick so I focus more on my legs. Make sure they're nice for beach season.
Abs and legs, mostly. Does it differ between males and females?
haha! Its a struggle for me to do any sort of strength-training after I'm done with my cardio. But I'd say my legs and my arms.
I definitely focus on my legs because I think they're large when compared to the rest of my body. Once they get to be the "right" size, then I'll focus more on all-over workouts.
At the gym I'd focus on stomach/legs. But when I'm buying clothes I focus on making the upper body look nice and neglect the lower portion.
work out for those buns of steel!I actually focus on my arms because my legs are strong enough not to need extra attention. I'm trying to get my bench press up above my weight and trying to get my squat up past 500.
I should work on my chest and abs, but I never saw the point as a lineman. I needed that weight for kicking people's asses, you know?
I don't go to the gym, but I'm a sexy woman, so that's okay.
I came here to say this: "chicken legs" should be illegal and well-defined calves are infinitely sexy.
